I remember multiple Junior Achievement classes from grade school and high school. I remember learning about the stock market, putting together a mock portfolio, and checking the paper to see the day's stock value. I remember assembling pens and understanding material costs. I remember a mock business environment where we could sell hats. We had to understand raw costs and how those fluctuated with quantities ordered. We had to set a price that would include margin and the computer software would use that to determine demand and overall sales. Today in the real world we sell well over 100,000 hats a year.
These memories and ensuring that my kids and their peers get the opportunity to learn about business is why I have supported Junior Achievement with my time and treasures for almost 20 years.
Today I am asking you to share your treasures to help support an organization that is committed to the youth of today and tomorrow.
