Throughout the month of May, I am committed to being active to raise awareness and funds for MPN research.
My Story
MPN?
Myeloproliferative neoplasms, or MPNs, are a rare group of blood cancers that affect adults (and kids) of all ages. Over the last couple of decades, our understanding of these diseases and the treatments available, have improved significantly.
But, a lot of work remains to be done. Many patients with so called "low risk" diseases live with a lot of debilitating symptoms and few effective treatments. Some patients still suffer from abnormal blood counts, pain from a large spleen or may need a transplant but not be eligible to receive this treatment.
I'm an MPN doc and also an avid runner. In fact, I just ran the Boston Marathon in April! Every day in my clinic, I talk to my patients about the importance of MOVEMENT! I am committed to remaining active this month, as always to raise money for MPN. I am thankful I am able to run, and I run for those who can't. I am grateful to you for your support!
