This June 10th I am planning on racing a 70.3 race for a cause that has become very close to my family.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with what a 70.3 is, let me take a moment to explain. A 70.3 is basically half an Ironman.  This triathlon includes a 1.2 mile swim to start, then a 56 mile bike ride, and it finishes with 13.1 mile run( or half a marathon).  I’m excited and nervous for this race for obvious reasons yet I’m confident I can finish and finish well.

I am training to race in the Eagleman in Cambridge, Maryland to raise money and awareness for The International Pleuropulmonary Blastoma Registry which administers aid, research, and hopefully a cure for this rare form of childhood cancer.  This cancer has personally affected my family and has completely changed the trajectory of my life in a positive way. Unfortunately, families all over the world are not as lucky and I hope to change that if only in a small way. If you look at Cancer and how it’s research and treatment is funded, only a fraction of the funds raised go towards childhood research.  So here I am….doing what I can to help others who have experienced or are going through what I have.

Should you be inclined to, I would consider it the ultimate compliment and gift if you would be able to donate.  Regardless of what the amount is, it is incredibly meaningful to me and could make a huge impact on finding a cure or even alleviating a young child's suffering.
This race is for my Iron Lung.  He had half of his left lung removed because of this terrible form of childhood cancer but continues to persevere, grow, and thrive  He motivates me to strive to better myself and to help others in need. Thus I am one person but a team; Team Iron Lung.
