About Golf Fore GraceWorks

What is the Golf Fore GraceWorks Challenge?
The Challenge is a fun day of golf that benefits GraceWorks Ministries. Each golfer identifies contributing sponsors. The more sponsors who support our golfers, the more funds the challenge will raise to benefit the work of GraceWorks.

When is Golf Fore GraceWorks?
Thursday, August 18th at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m., a shotgun start is at 9:00 a.m. followed by a tournament celebration & lunch.

How does this unique golf tournament work?
You and about 72 other participants will begin the day at 7:00 am with registration, breakfast and warm-up on the driving range; then you will tee off at 9:00 am and play an 18-hole scramble.

Does this concept of fundraising really work?
You will be amazed at how much fun you will have playing golf and raising funds for GraceWorks Ministries. What a sense of accomplishment you will feel at the end of the event, knowing that you have played a significant role in the lives of men, women and families impacted by GraceWorks Ministries.

Can I find someone to help me raise the sponsorship goal?
Yes. We have seen many golfers multiply their efforts in fundraising by challenging a friend or business associate to assist them in the fundraising process. Even though only one person plays on the event day, as many as 5-10 people could conceivably help that team in the “sponsor-finding” process! This will assure not only more friends and funds raised for GraceWorks Ministries, but will also assure more vision being cultivated in more lives in our community.

This sounds like a dream come true, but what will it cost me?
As we mentioned, there is no entry fee for the player. All we ask is that you contact 50 potential sponsors, giving them a special flyer about GraceWorks Ministries and asking them to help you raise funds for the ministry. Some people might be intimidated about raising sponsorship, but you will be amazed at how many people will get behind what you are doing just because you believe enough in the cause to play in this event. In a recent event, one player raised over $32,000 in sponsorship by themselves. The sky is the limit and the fun part is knowing your efforts will make a significant impact on young people’s lives.

Why am I developing sponsorships?
The money you and your fellow players help raise will give people an opportunity to be involved in the significant impact GraceWorks Ministries will be making in our community. Best of all, you actually have a chance to expand the vision of each person you ask for sponsorship, giving them an opportunity to impact their community as well. All contributions to GraceWorks Ministries are tax-deductible.

Who should I contact?
As you go about your day, think of people and businesses you can ask to sponsor you. The more people you ask, the more support you will raise, and most importantly, the larger impact you will make for this organization. Above all else, remember YOU ARE NOT A SALESPERSON. You are simply challenging others to be part of your team as you make a difference together. When seeking sponsorships on a “per hole” or “per game” basis, we have found that people respond more positively to a challenge, so we recommend challenging people to sponsor you for at least $50, preferably $100 or even $250. Remember, you can always reduce your challenge amount, but it is not as easy to increase a challenge after an amount has been offered.

How will donations be collected?
Simply bring the checks and cash along with the other pledges on the day of the tournament or register on this event page. If not paid by day of challenge, we will send your unpaid sponsors a special thank-you letter reminding them of the amount of their pledge total. They will receive a return-envelope addressed to GraceWorks Ministries so you do not initially have to be involved in the collection process; however, after 30 days, we may ask you to contact the sponsors who have not yet responded.

What if I don’t raise my goal of $1500?

This golf tournament is a very special event. At what other time would you have the opportunity to invest in the lives of families who will impact our community for years to come. We would be thrilled to have you join us as a golfer. Your commitment of time and energy in raising your support is critical to the success of the event. Since there are limited spaces available, your role is important. We are asking that, if you choose to participate, you will do all that is in your power to develop your sponsorship team. As a recommended minimum to play, we ask that you raise at least $500.
