My Maverick. He is my fearless, confident, stubborn, and sweet second born. When he was 2 days old I woke up to find a sheet of paper folded next to him in his bassinet at the hospital. Unbeknownst to me, while I was sleeping, they took Mav for his Newborn Hearing Screen. He failed. Twice. Then 2 other times up at Boystown. But that’s a story for another day! Like most new parents of a child with a difference, I was lost! Enter, Hands and Voices. Through parent connection, education, and community I became a confident advocate for Maverick’s needs. From small things, like how to change his HA’s tubing. To bigger things, like preparing for his IEP meetings. Hands and Voices has truly allowed me to feel connected to others walking the same journey- allowing Taylor and I to never feel alone.
