Have A Heart Run 2019 Description

Run to lift your neighbors out of poverty!

The Have a Heart Run helps people in need in our community. You can fundraise once you register for the 5K, 2.5K, or as a virtual runner, or you can make your donation today!

The Have a Heart Run is a family-friendly event located at beautiful Edgewater Park in Mount Vernon, Washington. When you walk or run with us, you're helping your neighbors find the tools and support they need to get out of poverty.

All proceeds from this event will benefit Community Action of Skagit County as we walk alongside our community members on their path out of poverty. If you're unable to run/walk with us, you can still participate as a virtual runner and fundraise online before race day!

FAQs

I'm not an athlete. Can I still participate?

Of course! Being an athlete is not a requirement, and you'll have just as much fun walking or jogging the race to help a good cause. The Have a Heart Run is also a great event for more experienced racers.

Where do the proceeds go?

All proceeds will benefit Community Action of Skagit County, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with low-income in Skagit County. We provide services that focus on housing and homeless prevention, financial empowerment, education and employment skills, health access, food and nutrition, family stability, legal assistance, home heating assistance, veteran's assistance, as well as community engagement and volunteerism.

When and where do I pick up my bib and t-shirt?

Bibs will be available from 3:00-6:00 PM on Friday, April 26, 2019 at Community Action's parking lot. They can also be picked up at Edgewater Park starting at 8:15 AM on race day (Saturday, April 27, 2019)!

What if it rains?

The race will go on! This is a rain or shine event, and it's in beautiful Skagit County! The weather has been beautiful for past Have a Heart Runs, and we hope it will be this year too!

Can I walk the race?

Yes! The course is the same for those who choose to walk or run.

Can we bring dogs or strollers on the course?

Due to the course being narrow in some places, we are not allowing dogs and strollers on the course for safety purposes.

Can kids run?

Of course! This is a super-fun event for the whole family.

Can I take video or pictures?

Please do! And make sure you tag them and share them with us on Facebook! This year our hashtag is:  #HAHR19

Will there be food available?

Yes. We will have light snack foods available after the race. Water will also be available.

Is the event timed?
Yes. There will be chipped timing for both the 5K and 2.5K events.

If I can't attend, can I get a refund?

Unfortunately there are no refunds for the race registration. You can convert your registration fee into a donation if you miss the event!
