We found out Mitchell had a heart defect halfway into pregnancy. After birth he spent some time in the NICU to be monitored.  He has been following up with the cardiologist since birth and was doing well during his first year.  He recently became hospitalized with severe pneumonia which he is still recovering from at home.  His most recent heart echo showed a new extremely rare heart defect and we also learned his heart is enlarged.  Our original plan was to wait until he was 3-5 years old for the open heart surgery, but this new diagnosis and his enlarged heart makes surgery more imminent. However, he needs to heal from pneumonia and get his immune system stronger in order for surgery. He will have a long 6-8 hour open heart surgery on JULY 20th. We ask for strength, prayers, and support along the way prior and post surgery. Thank you all.
