The 2024 Walk Cover Model – George

George - A Poem by Rod & Karen

When we first saw George,
he was alone in his crate.
He was nervous and sad,
unsure of his fate.

He had just arrived,
only one week ago.
He needed a family.
He wanted badly to go.

He was an adorable dog,
with cute spots on his ears.
We offered him a treat,
but it didn’t calm his fears.

But something changed,
when we opened his door.
He was off like a rocket!
He couldn’t wait to explore!

Soon he was smiling,
while leaping in the air!
Spreading happiness,
and joy everywhere.

Every dog he saw,
he wanted to meet.
He would play with them,
then rush back for a treat!

Although it was quick,
we already knew,
‘You don’t adopt a dog,
your dog adopts you!’

George leapt into our car,
the very next day.
He leapt into our hearts,
as we whisked him away.

We had some house rules,
which he would quickly ignore.
From the couch or the bed,
we could hear his soft snore.

George loves the Potter League.
He’s thankful for their support.
He’s excited to be the lead,
for the walk at the Fort.

He knows Potter League Pets
are special and great!
But they need your help.
There is no time to wait.

He is honored to raise funds,
to take care of each pet,
those in need of a loving home,
or some help from a Vet.

So, let’s have a big parade!
George will lead the way!
Oct 20th at Fort Adams
will be a spectacular day!

Love,
Rod, Karen and George (Adopted 11/11/23, 9 Years Old)
