Over the past 12 years, Horizons has served more than 650 Hartford students through academic enrichment, athletics, leadership opportunities, and year-round support that help students build brighter futures.
One thing we never compromise on is food. Every summer, we provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks to 150 PreK–8th grade students throughout our six-week program. Nutritious meals are essential to learning, growth, and opportunity, but rising food costs make this one of our greatest expenses.

At Horizons at The Ethel Walker School, we see every day how opportunity, consistency, and community can change a child’s future.
One of our juniors first learned to swim as a kindergartener during her very first Horizons summer. This past year, Horizons sponsored her lifeguard certification so she can return in Summer 2026 to help our youngest students become confident swimmers themselves; a true full-circle moment.
Another Horizons student recently earned a scholarship to Long Island University, where she will play Division I field hockey while pursuing a pre-med degree. Her first introduction to field hockey happened at Horizons twelve years ago.
Another first time Horizons student wrote in her 8th grade speech book, "Horizons made me believe I actually have a place in this world.”
