Raising Money for Breakfasts for North Philly Kids!
I am trying to raise an extra $150 to feed some awesome kids this summer. These kids are in the Horizons program, which is a free, six-week summer program for kids in the Germantown/North Philadelphia neighborhood. There is more info about Horizons below, but in short, these terrific kids are reading, swimming, and exploring all summer and need some fuel! While Horizons is a national program, I am on the Board for a Philadelphia site that hosts 135 low-income students in the Germantown/North Philadelphia neighborhood. Horizons Philadelphia offers a free, six-week summer program where Pre-K to 8th grade students receive meals; academic enrichment; field trips; lessons in nutrition, arts, and emotional literacy; mental health support services; and swim lessons (a huge safety skill that is sorely lacking in kids raised in the city).
My kids volunteer there as summer counselors and we are always amazed at the energy, curiosity and creativity that these kids pour out. I promise, this will be the best money you spend this year!
