New England Aquarium Field Trip
Last summer, Horizons@LMS students visited the New England Aquarium, where they experienced a day of discovery and wonder exploring marine life. From the excitement of the bus ride to the joy of learning together, moments like these help spark curiosity and create lasting memories.
This experience is one of many made possible through the generosity of our community. Your support ensures that students continue to have access to enriching, joyful learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
Farming at LMS
At Lexington Montessori School, farming is an integral part of our hands-on learning experience. Students connect with nature by planting, tending, and harvesting in our school gardens, learning firsthand where food comes from and the care it requires to grow. Our middle school students have been learning about food, nutrition, and cooking meals using the greens and vegetables grown at LMS, as part of the program and in collaboration with one of our generous mentors and supporters.
These experiences foster responsibility, curiosity, and a deep respect for the natural world, while also building patience and collaboration. Through farming, students not only learn practical skills but also develop a stronger connection to the environment and to one another.
At Horizons@LMS, academics are rooted in a Montessori-inspired approach that emphasizes hands-on learning, independence, and a deep understanding of concepts rather than memorization. Students engage in carefully prepared lessons that meet them at their individual level, allowing each child to build confidence, strengthen skills, and maintain steady academic growth throughout the summer.
Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to encourage exploration, collaboration, and critical thinking. Teachers guide students through a rich academic curriculum in literacy, mathematics, and science, while also integrating real-world applications that make learning meaningful and engaging.
This approach supports not only academic continuity and growth, but also the development of curiosity, focus, and a lifelong love of learning.
Horizons at Lexington Montessori School is 100% donor-funded. This means that every meal, swim lesson, enrichment class, and field trip is made possible through the generosity of our community, every experience we provide is possible because of you.
When you give to Horizons, you are investing in a child’s future. You are helping close opportunity gaps, build confidence, and create access to experiences that inspire curiosity, growth, and a love of learning. These moments shape not only academic success, but also a child’s sense of possibility.
