I'm taking part in Hike to Mt. McCoy 2026 to raise money for The Samaritan Center - Simi Valley, and for me this one is personal.
Not long ago I was in a rough place and wasn't in the headspace to handle much on my own. The Samaritan Center showed up for me every day. My case manager sat with me while I made calls I couldn't make alone, kept encouraging me all the way to my first appointment with the VA and into a sober living house where I'm staying now. They fed me and gave me a safe place where people actually cared. I'm getting back on track because of them.
That's why I'm hiking. The Samaritan Center does this for people in Simi Valley every day, and I want to help make sure they can keep doing it for the next person who's where I was.
