18th Annual MediSystem Biking for Bubbies & Zaidies

Dear friends and family,

This will be my 18th year participating in Biking for Bubbies & Zaidies, a fundraiser for Hillel Lodge. Thank you all for your previous donations and hope you can help again this year.

As a group, we have raised over $2,488,000 for the Lodge!

The Lodge cares for the seniors in our community who need long-term support. As you may know, my parents, Morton and Sylvia, and my aunt Nancy were well cared for at the Lodge before they passed away. Before them, both my grandfathers, Menashe Greenberg and Archie Pleet, were residents of the Lodge. Erin remembers calling the bingo numbers for her Elter Zaidas.

I have seen firsthand the hard work the staff provides to assist our seniors. They were supportive and compassionate at a very difficult time for our family.

Money raised this year will support the meal assistance program, recreation, and programs to help end isolation and loneliness. More and more residents need help feeding themselves, and yet the provincial government does not fund these services.

I am proud to have Hillel Lodge right here in Ottawa. A long-term care home built on the value of honouring thy father and mother.
