Some of us have lived it. Some of us have loved someone through it. All of us are here to fight it.
Welcome to HLH & Back, a team of patients, survivors, families, friends, caregivers, and supporters coming together to raise awareness and funds for histiocytic disorders.
What is histiocytosis?
Histiocytosis is a group of rare disorders involving histiocytes, immune cells that normally help protect the body. In histiocytic disorders, these cells can become overactive or build up where they shouldn’t, causing inflammation and damage throughout the body.
HLH (hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis) is one of these disorders. In HLH, the immune system becomes dangerously overactive and can begin damaging the body’s own tissues and organs. Without treatment, HLH can be life-threatening.
Whether you’re living with HLH, survived it, lost someone to it, care for someone affected by it, love someone with HLH, or simply believe this community deserves better , there is space for you here.
This year, our goal is $5,000. Every dollar supports the Histiocytosis Association’s work for patients and families affected by histiocytic disorders. Every person who joins expands our reach. Every share teaches someone about a disease they may have never heard of before.
