I really don't know how many friends I have lost to AIDS, but even one is too many. In the old days - when Regan wouldn't mention "AIDS" it was like a horror movie. If you woke up hot on a summer night you wondered if you had the dreaded night sweats. We had some friends who fought like hell to the bitter end, others who started arranging their funerals, down to the finest detail, the day after they recieved their diagnosis. Now we have medications that help those with HIV & AIDS cope with this horrible disease in relative comfort, but this diagnosis still carries with it a stigma that can destroy relationships, careers and lives.
This is the 31st year for the Honolulu AIDS Walk, we hope that you feel able to contribute, even a small amount, to help those in need.
