Fonzie's Journey

Wayne was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in August 2012. We immediately rebuked it and claimed healing in Jesus name.  We went through all the testing and doctors visits and giving this to God, Wayne refused any treatment. We believed he would be healed.  Our faith is so strong and Wayne was doing great, we beleived Wayne was healed.  He continued to play the drums in church worshiping the Lord.  He had the best of two worlds, his love for the Lord and his love of playing drums came together for the glory of God.  In November 2013 things changed and Wayne started throwing up blood and after several months or blood transfusions and iron infusions, Wayne went in for a procedure on May 30, 2014.  That is when our lives changed forever.  The doctor came out and told me that Wayne was bleeding to death and needed emergency surgery.  Four hours later the surgeon came out and told me that they removed the lower lobe of the left lung.  Praise God, Wayne made it throught the surgery and I was told they had a clean cut.  As always, Wayne bounced back and was eating and walking with assistance within a couple days.  We planned on starting radiation treatments once Wayne was released from the hospital.  That was our plan, however, God had a different plan that took us on a 97 days journey.  A journey that I was blessed to be a part of.  I watched Wayne, witness to everyone in the hospital and uplifting all the nurses, doctors, aides, everybody.  Wayne touched so many lives in that 97 days.  He was a very compassionate man with a zest for life and love to make people smile and laugh. I was blessed to be married to the love of my live for almost 36 years.  See, Wayne passed away in September 2014 and our anniversary was in November.  But our prayers were answered, yes - we prayed fervently for complete healing and restoration and that is exactly what Wayne received.  Wayne has now changed his address to heaven and is saving a place for me.  The hurt and pain is still as sharp as it was that morning I recieved the call that Wayne had gone home to be with the Lord.  I can't change what God has planned but I can di this 5K in honor of Wayne and all the individuals that are dealing with this vicious disease.  I pray that God be with every victim of this illness and their caregivers, to keep them strong and give them the wisdom to understand that God is in control of all things.  Please just stay GOD STRONG.
