Neighborhood Alliance is near and dear to my heart as I have worked for them for more than 18 years! Our emergency shelter, The Haven Center, is unique in Lorain County. We are the only 24 hour, 365 day, comprehensive shelter that serves families. FAMILIES, intact, in one safe, warm, room. In most shelters, males must be segregated from females, which means that sons are segregated from their moms! One night of shelter costs our agency just about $25...think of that - $25 - the price of a couple of pizza's or a trip to Chipotle. Ongoing support of our shelter has continued to decline...in the past year we have lost over $50,000 from historic funders! Please consider support Team Osborn by running or walking...or a donation! It truly helps the neediest individuals in not only Lorain County, but the surrounding counties as well. Can you imagine if you were homeless?

Why I Support the Homeless

 

Although this winter has not been as bad as ones past, we will all appreciate getting out of our homes to enjoy the spring weather. But for others in the community, surviving the winter means something very different..

 

For the countless men, women and their families that call the Haven Center their home, the journey started as simply as a broken car, missed paycheck, or long illness, which quickly and unexpectedly spirals out of control. Without the support of the Haven Center extended-stay, 68 bed homeless shelter, getting back up on their own would be even more challenging. I'm here to say there is no zip code or age that is immune to being HOMELESS!
