For the last 10 years I have worked to transform and bolster efforts to end homelessness in Los Angeles. Clear to me now is that to make a lasting difference, we need to more fully engage Angelinos through housing and homelessness advocacy efforts, and provide greater financial resources to that end. 

United Way's HomeWalk is a perfect opportunity for progress to be made on both of those counts. HomeWalk has raised awareness about the housing crisis and local homelessness dynamics. Funding raised through HomeWalk has been strategically distributed to providers and pilot initiatives that have helped to measurably improve Los Angeles' homeless response system.
