There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer. In 2020, the latest year for which incidence data are available, 18,518 new cases of Ovarian cancer were reported in the United States and 13,438 of these women died of this cancer.
50% of new cases are late stage, and 2 out of 3 woman my age are dead within 5 years of diagnosis. A friend’s sister died from ovarian cancer at the age of 13, and a treasured 74 year old support group friend died this summer.
Ovarian cancer knows no age, race, economic status, or family history. It can strike anyone at anytime. It’s only through research that an early detection test will be developed, and your donation will help make that early screening a reality.
