It’s been over a year since I heard the words “ovarian cancer.” Sometimes it still feels like my journey just started. Other times, it feels like multiple years have gone by. Every single day, I continue to be a survivor.

After being told I was cancer free in October 2025, I was delighted to be accepted into Matt Block’s Phase II study focused on preventing ovarian cancer from returning through a personalized vaccine. I’ve successfully received five out of twelve shots.

At MOCA’s Black, White, and Teal Gala in May, Dr. Block’s study was awarded $100,000! It feels truly special to have MOCA support a study that directly impacts and involves me. Three other studies also received $100,000 at this inspiring event.

This September, I’ll be attending Camp Mak-A-Dream’s ovarian cancer camp in Montana! MOCA offers a scholarship I can apply for to help offset travel costs to camp.

Since March, I’ve been part of MOCA’s Connection Night. I’m thankful that we meet online in the evenings, which makes it easier for me to participate with my teaching schedule. I also hope to attend events this summer.
