25th Anniversary Hope Walk

Hi, I'm Curtis Smith.

I was made aware of HIV in the early 80's, when two of my best friends from college became infected. I still regret, that fear and self-preservation kept me from fully engaging to fight HIV in my community until just 16 years ago. And that I lost too many friends to HIV/AIDS without them knowing I really loved them.

I now serve as Pastor of Trinity Metropolitan Community Church in Arlington/Grand Prairie area. It is a church where many members feel comfortable sharing their HIV status and where HIV/AIDS education and prevention are discussed openly and all people are welcomed with open arms. I also serve as a counselor at AIDS Outreach Center.

By being in the Hope Walk to fight HIV/AIDS I challenge my church and community to walk with me, to sponsor me and to commit to fighting HIV. Together we can educate, destroy the stigma around HIV and lovingly care for those affected.

If Trinity MCC makes our goal of $3,000, I will once again walk the walk in my 5 inch stilettos.
