For the past few years, I have served on the Chicago board for Israel Cancer Research Fund. ICRF's mission is to support the best and brightest scientists conducting groundbreaking research in Israel. Research is the cornerstone of ICRF’s quest to end the suffering caused by cancer.
To date, ICRF has funded over 2,700 grants totaling more than $87.5 million to scientists at leading institutions. In the current funding year, ICRF is supporting 83 cancer research grants, making us the largest nongovernmental funder of cancer research in Israel.
This was one of the main reasons that brought me to ICRF in the first place. My father was diagnosed with Leukemia when I was in 8th grade. The first medication he took, Gleevec®, was developed based on research funded by ICRF. He unfortunately passed when I was in college, but we owe those extra years to the doctors and scientists that helped him, and others like him, through his diagnosis. Needless to say, this is a cause that I am deeply passionate about.
The answer to cancer is research. Please help me reach my goal so we can hopefully one day put an end to cancer. Thank you for your interest and generocity.
