Bangladeshis deserve the right to food, education, and more!

Many of us take for granted the food we have on our tables everyday. However, several people residing in the country of Bangladesh do not get to experience this type of food security. These Bangladeshis also do not have the adequate resources to be provided with quality education, clean water and sanitation, healthcare, and numerous other necessities. By donating, we can all come together to aid families in accessing these basic resources in the blessed month of Ramadan.

Cyclon Amphane: Worst in Over 2 Decades

Cyclones and Monsoon Floods Destroying Housing and Land:

On May 20th, 2020 the Super-Cyclone Amphan made landfall, hitting regions of Bangladesh and India devastatingly. This cyclone has been recorded as the strongest storm to have formed in the Bay of Bengal since 1999. Nearly 100 people died, and approximately 10 million people across the region have been affected due to the damage it has caused to many houses, bridges and embankments. Islamic Relief teams in the area responded immediately to get emergency food aid and other essential items to vulnerable communities who have had to evacuate their homes.

Islamic Relief USA launched this emergency to support critical relief efforts for our brothers and sisters across the region. We ask that you kindly remember them in your dua and in your donations.

Striving for Livelihood Amidst Poverty

Poverty has always been a major concern in Bangladesh, however in the past year, the rate of poverty in Bangladesh has surged tremendously due to COVID-19. Poverty impacts the livelihood of Bangladeshis drastically, as many are not able to find the means to improve their poor living conditions without work opportunities and more money. A significant percentage of the population in Bangladesh depend on agricultural outputs for income. Nevertheless, tropical storms and coastal flooding interfere constantly, only to exacerbate poverty and economic insecurity. Educational opportunities also continue to be of varying quality since poverty poses a barrier to schooling for an overwhelming number of people in Bangladesh.
