My kids are very typical eaters.

A lot of children aren't. When I was growing up, that was dismissed as being picky. 

But this invalidation of actual issues, be they physical issues with swallowing or digestion or psychological issues of fear or trauma around eating, can be damaging to one's relationship with food for their entire lives, creating issues around nutrition, vitamin deficiencies and frustration, anger and trauma around meal time.

Though the work of Feeding Matters and their cadre of physicians, nurses and parents and their networks, PFD and ARFID are now being recognized for what they are: real medical conditions that require intervention and help. 

The funds we raise here go toward raising awareness and educating the medical and mental health community about PFD and ARFID and to helping families get their children the resources and education they need to help their kids find nutrition and create a positive relationship with eating for the rest of their lives.
