For my bar mitzvah project, I’m raising money for Feeding Matters, a national nonprofit focused on helping children with feeding disorders like PFD (Pediatric Feeding Disorder) and ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) get the care they need, because when eating is hard, scary, or hurts, it’s not picky eating.
Since 2006, Feeding Matters has worked across advocacy, education, research, and family support to improve early identification and access to care, while advancing a broader understanding of feeding development. They have also helped establish PFD as a recognized medical diagnosis, and today we’re pushing the field to look beyond growth charts toward a more complete, family-centered approach.
I wanted to help Feeding Matters because:
- My dad is on the board and we’ve talked about the work they do
- It impacts kids and their development - without proper nutrition, kids can’t grow
- It helps people who don't have access to the right resources or care
- They create community and help people feel less alone
I will be raising money to support this cause in a couple of different ways. I will be participating in the Agoura Hills Community Day of Service and help beautify my community on their behalf. I'm also setting up a lemonade stand in my community where people can donate and get a treat.
If you would like to also contribute to this wonderful cause, it would mean the world to me
