Hello Donors!
Thank you for your interest in helping fund my trip to Uganda!
After graduating from UNH this May, an opportunity has come for me to volunteer for three weeks in June to serve with members of ChildVoice. ChildVoice is a non-profit organization seeking to restore the voices of children and communities silenced by war. The civil war that broke out in Uganda between the government and the LRA did a lot of destruction to the country. Now, almost 10 years later, I will have the opportunity to not only serve the Lukome Centre in northern Uganda, but show love and compassion to the children and communities affected by the war.
I will be traveling to Uganda with a group of 8 AIV students from UNH. Once in Uganda, we will have a range of activities to serve and take part in. We have hopes to build a soccer field and offer a sports clinic for the children in the community. I will have the opportunity to use my business degree in the hopes of helping the Lukome Centre become financially independent in the future. Something that I am personally most excited about is that through this whole journey we will be paired with Ugandan college students, which will allow us to really get to learn their culture. Though this trip and these activities gives me chance to serve others in a third world country, I feel that even more importantly the people and culture will have an even greater impact on me than I could ever have on them. I know I will be forever grateful for this journey I am soon to embark on.
I am beyond excited for this opportunity to go and make a difference in the lives of children and adults in Northern Uganda. My heart is full of hope and joy for what is to come in this experience, but I know that I cannot do this by myself. I would like to ask you for three things:
- Prayers! Please pray for the children and communities in Northern Uganda as well as safe travels.
- Donations! This trip will cost approximately $3,000 and it cannot be made possible without donations.
- Spread the word! Whether you can or cannot donate, if you could spread the word among people in your communities about this trip that would be wonderful!
