Location

Location: Race course is at KC Timber Challenge located at 12829 Loring Rd, Bonner Springs, KS, 66012. Park in the marked gravel parking area then walk up the short gravel road to the course entrance.

Registration

When you arrive go to the Registration Table to check in. All runners MUST sign a KC Zip course waiver and a Joy Meadows waiver. This is required by the facility prior to entering the course. Attached to this email you will find the 2 waivers if you would like to print and sign ahead of time. Copies will also be available at the course on the morning of the race. Parents can fill out the form and list all minors for which they are the guardian on one form.

Facilities

There are restrooms, a bag check, and outdoor showers to use after the race.

Race Time

The morning will begin with race check-in opening at 8:00 AM, followed by team race waves starting at 9:00 AM for all participants, including church teams, partner organizations, corporate groups, and foster family teams. Race waves will continue throughout the morning, with foster family teams checking in mid-morning. You will receive an email the week of the Joy Run confirming your assigned race wave and check-in time.

Race Swag

T-shirts and swag will be available for pickup on race day. We have an exciting day planned and can’t wait to welcome you to join in all the festivities!

The Course

  • 25+ obstacles, choose to complete them all or go around

  • 3.1 miles for entire course, or shortcut for 1.5 mile course

  • Suitable for ages 5+ (strollers cannot go on the course)

  • Obstacles include climbing, swinging, crawling and more! Some are muddy— it’s up to you!

  • Participants will be started on the course in waves, groups of approximately 25-40 to make sure everyone can participate and have fun

Free for Foster Families

  • Race registration is free (proof of your agency is required at time of registration)

  • Race t-shirt and extra swag on race day just for foster families so everyone can recognize you!

  • MC-led games, exercises and giveaways

  • Find your agency for extra swag

  • Get a ticket for a free food item

  • Foster families can register and still build their own teams to add friends and family to raise awareness, participate with you and have fun!

  • All funds go to support foster families, and the free programs offered year round at Joy Meadows for foster families and children.

  • Once you register, you can build your own team and raise funds together

  • Corporate sponsors can pay to sponsor the race, and also build a team for greater impact and awareness beyond race day! 

  • A percentage of vendor proceeds will go to Joy Meadows
