My Volunteer Experience

2016 was my first year as a Junior Achievement classroom teacher and it was beyond my wildest expectations.  I taught 7th grade at Desert Hills Middle School and I absolutely loved it.  The kids were always excited to see me, and I was excited to see them.  I was really sad to say goodbye at the end of my 6 week assignment, and they were begging me to come back

The curriculum for 7th grade is right up my alley given my business education background and my personal business interests.  7th grade curriculum is titled "JA Economics For Success", during which students will be able to explore their skills, interests, values, and the world of work to make informed education, career, and life decisions. The program also will expand their knowledge of personal finance—including smart budgeting, wise credit use, and minimizing financial risk—so they can apply strong financial management skills regardless of their income.

I recommend this program to anyone who loves teaching important life skills.  The children are our future and JA sets them up to understand complicated life skills that they'll encounter more and more as they grow.
