K9s For Warriors

Determined to end Veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors provides highly-trained Service Dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs being rescues, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery.

Peter Guisti

Peter loved his country deeply. Serving those who served was not just his job — it was his calling.

He worked with several nonprofit organizations over the years, but those dedicated to our veterans were always closest to his heart. He believed firmly that “you’ve got to have skin in the game,” and he always did.  His father was a World War II veteran, and that legacy of service shaped the way Peter saw the world.

Though he never went to war himself, he felt a profound responsibility to give back to the men and women who did. He poured his heart into his work with USA Cares, supporting post-9/11 veterans and their families during some of their most challenging times. He helped make the USO airport lounge in Florida a true place of comfort — a space where military members and their families could rest, breathe, and feel appreciated during their journeys. He also served for many years with AMVETS, continuing his mission of standing beside veterans long after they returned home.

This wasn’t just work for Peter, it was his passion. He was proud of his country. He was proud of the men and women who serve it. And he was proud of the families who stand behind them every single day.

To honor Peters legacy, please consider a donation to the K9s for Warriors cause.
