Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! We are hosting this fundraiser in honor of our daughter, Sophia, who was diagnosed with a KCNQ2 related epilepsy 3 years ago when she was 10 weeks old. Sophia suffered from upwards of 30 seizures a day including infantile spasms for the first 8 weeks of her life, after receiving several misdiagnoses. Since then Sophia has been diagnosed with epilepsy, autism, nystagmus, strabismus, and global developmental delay. Each year on Sophia's seizure free anniversary we have a party but more importantly we raise money for the KCNQ2 Cure Alliance who is researching this rare disease and searching for a cure!

Sophia will be 3 years seizure free on March 21st!!

Sophia update: The biggest update this year is that Sophia started walking in August!! This was a huge milestone for our girl and she is so happy to be mobile and exploring her environment. This year Sophia was officially diagnosed with autism and she was able to start the Pathways program at the B.E. Smith Center (Britain). She receives one on one speech, OT, PT and ABA therapy 4 days a week as well as swim and music therapy. She is absolutely thriving! She loves school so much. Since starting Pathways, Sophia has learned two signs including "eat" and "more" which is not surprising for our little snack queen! We are currently waiting for approval on a grant to get Sophia an ACC device which is basically a fancy iPad that she can use to communicate. Communication continues to be Sophia's biggest struggle. Sophia continues to be the sweetest and sassiest girl you will ever meet and we are so excited to celebrate her milestones each year on her seizure free anniversary!
