Why I Keep Raising the Bar for the Arizona Burn Foundation;
Helping others has been one of my ultimate lifetime goals in my life. It all started when I was 10 years old and decided to grow out my hair for 3 years to ultimately cut it off and donate it to the Locks of Love foundation. I remember sitting with my mom in the living room from a long day of school and receiving a picture of a 13 year old girl that had just finished a couple rounds of chemotherapy that the foundation had made my hair into a wig for her. The text depicted her story of how she was struggling and the only thing that kept her going was the wig made from my hair that helped her feel secure with her reality and how strong it made her feel and being able to fit in with the other girls around her age. It gave me an overwhelming feeling of joy that a small decision in my life had helped someone else going through life altering events. Flash forward to my career as a paramedic firefighter, I live to serve the community of Mesa with my upmost respect and integrity. Having made a lot of unbelievable friends along the way that share the same lifetime goal, they have opened my eyes to more opportunities where I can volunteer my time and efforts for causes that we firmly believe in. What motivated me to this challenge was my never ending goal of staying fit so that I may help utilize my strengths to help those who can not help themselves and to take this as a personal challenge to see what I can do when I put my mind to it.
