About Keshet
Our mission is forever growing

Keshet is a one-of-a-kind organization that brings classroom experiences, camps, sports, social and vocational activities, and residential opportunities to 600 people with disabilities each year.

From the very start, Keshet has grown alongside our participants, creating a community where people of all abilities learn, play, work and live together.

Today, Keshet continues to flourish, with over 75 programs, 3 residences, 200 dedicated staff, and thousands of engaged partners and donors around the world.

Keshet makes a powerful difference in the lives of each child and adult with disabilities, their families, the community and beyond.

At Keshet, our participants drive our growth, they drive our evolution, and they inspire us daily to look forward.

Meet John, Emma, Jerry and Rachel, just a few of the participants in our community who are pushing forward and growing every day.

John
From receiving support to giving support

John lives for overnight camp, sports and his friends. He is a top-notch athlete and is the first on the field or court to play. This summer, through Keshet’s Avodah program, John is on the athletics staff at Camp Chi. When he is running drills or refereeing a game, John encourages younger campers to try and try again until they sink a basket or score a goal. He instinctively makes accommodations to ensure everyone’s success, just as people did for him when he was younger. He’s leading the way for others to achieve their dream of being on staff at camp.

Emma
Her ideas spark Keshet program expansion

Emma isn’t into sports, which have historically been the hallmark of Keshet’s recreation programs. Two years ago, Emma candidly shared with us that she wished there were other Keshet programs for her to do. Staff listened and created a new program, Club Keshet, with a focus on arts, cooking and yoga. Keshet creates an environment that encourages Emma to be a self-advocate and comfortable sharing her ideas and opinions. Thanks to her vision, Keshet is expanding its program reach.

Jerry
Lifelong learning leads to finding his voice

Jerry has grown up with Keshet, and is currently a team member at GADOL, Keshet’s adult day program. For many years, Jerry has used an assistive device to communicate, but, often his selection of words didn’t come together to express his thoughts. With much encouragement from his friends and support of Keshet staff, Jerry, at 28 years-old, is starting to use the device to effectively and regularly respond to questions, communicate his opinions and make his ideas known.

Rachel
Becoming more independent with the right support

A year ago, Rachel hesitantly moved into Keshet’s MY Life. She was worried that being in a group home would mean she would lose her independence. Instead, with Keshet by her side, she has learned where she does and does not need support. Today, she is thriving, more independent and resilient. She’s gotten physically fit, plans her own dates and works in a job she loves. In just 12 months, her entire world has changed for the better.
