At Family Promise of North Fulton/DeKalb, we believe every child deserves a safe place to sleep and the opportunity to thrive.

Kids Come First is our commitment to ensuring that children experiencing a housing crisis have access to the critical support they need when they need it most. 

When a family faces housing instability, it is children who feel it first and deepest. They lose stability, routines, and often the sense of safety that allows them to grow, learn, and simply be kids. Too many children in our community are living in cars, overcrowded spaces, or uncertain environments, affecting their physical health, emotional well-being, and ability to succeed in school.

Why It Matters

Housing instability doesn't just disrupt a family - it can alter the trajectory of a child's life. 

Without stable housing, children are more likely to:

  • Fall behind in school
  • Experience anxiety and stress
  • Struggle with long-term health and developmental challenges

But when stability is restored, everything changes.

A safe place to sleep means better focus in the classroom, improved mental health, and the chance for a brighter future.

How Your Support Helps

Your gift directly meets the urgent and ongoing needs of children across all of our programs. Through Kids Come First, you are providing:

  • Eviction prevention support to keep families safely housed
  • Hotel stays for families in immediate crisis
  • Childcare assistance so parents can work and children can thrive
  • Transportation support to maintain employment and school attendance
  • Medical care and basic necessities that every child deserves.

On average, just $1,000 can prevent a family from losing their housing - protecting not only their home, but a child's sense of security and stability.
