Some listeners have called To Hell & Bach, “Music History for the Ear” and that’s a
pretty good description. A colleague once said, the show “touches on just about every
genre…eventually.” This is also a good description. \he name, To Hell & Bach, can
confuse some people into thinking it is an All-Classical endeavor. But, don’t forget that
the word “Hell” is just as important as “Bach.”
It’s a musical and spoken word journey into unknown territory. It can be a wild ride, a
learning experience, or a meditation. And so, I like to say,
“To Hell & Bach professes no musical borders, and was conceived as a journey through
time and genres, via historical, mythological, poetic and purely musical motifs—but
ultimately, it just hopes to cock an ear, or raise an eyebrow along the way.”
