On February 9, 2023, a Tucson Police Department Officer was assisting with traffic control while at a traffic collision scene when he was struck by another driver who was later arrested for impaired driving.
The Officer, who was hired by TPD in October 2021 and is assigned to Operations Division West, suffered serious injuries to include the loss of his lower right leg. He anticipates beginning rehabilitation in the coming weeks. This phase will be rigorous and difficult but knowing his resiliency, he will continue to impress us and achieve his goal of getting back to patrol with his squad.
While many might be focused on the senseless and tragic injury that he sustained while serving his community, this incident has not shaken the officer’s positive outlook on life, spirit, and his will to continue serving the community as a police officer. He has a challenging journey ahead and is extremely grateful for all of the family, Department and community support.
