We were 32 weeks along with our pregnancy when I felt something wasn’t quite right as I noticed our baby wasn’t moving as much as usual and went to the ER late at night to check on his heartbeat, which turned out to be fatally low. Within an hour they were rushing us into the delivery room with little explanation, putting me under and performing an emergency c section. Our son was delivered on 10/3/15 but unfortunately did not breath after delivery and when I awoke from the anesthesia my husband was by my side and the doctor informed me that our baby had died. This tragic loss was such a shock to us as we never knew that a loss at this stage with no apparent cause was possible. Our family continues to mourn the loss of our second son, Owen Nathaniel Vick, and feel his void every day. We hope others will receive better medical care so they can be aware of any potential issues with their pregnancy and hopefully be able to avoid a loss themselves.
