Opportunities Take Flight for Adult Literacy
September 8th is International Literacy Day and September 20 - 26 is Adult Education Week. That makes September Adult Literacy Awarness month! This is an ideal time to show your support for adult literacy and it is urgently needed!
Approximately 1 in 5 adults in our community struggle with reading, writing and math. Adding to that, the Covid-19 pandemic has created unprecedented unemployment. Many adults are looking to improve their skills to better their future job prospects. Others are redoubling their efforts to improve their literacy skills and better engage with family, faith and community, as well as becoming more civically engaged.
When the pandemic hit, we were able to adapt with virtual and safe onsite instruction. But, it has been five months, and the resources that allowed us to adapt are in jeopardy. We have over 500 students participating in instruction each year, and for every $600 raised, we can enroll a new student. We need your help today to keep enrolling new students!
At this site, you can make a donation directly to us on your own, through a friend or team, or create a fundraising page of your own. Thank you! For more information on the Literacy Alliance visit any of our social media pages or our website at literacyallnefl.org.
