Dear Friends and Family,

On October 15th, Team Whacking for Hope will be participating in a fundraiser for cancer research called Hackers For Hope – “The Final Hurrah”.  We will be golfing at Wee Burn Country Club to raise money for important cancer research. 

The Hackers founder, Al Smith passed away in November 2019.  And now just a few weeks ago, Al's co-founder Tim Brown lost his latest battle with cancer.  Nan Smith made the decision to close Hackers For Hope after one final fall fundraiser called The Last Hurrah! to celebrate the accomplishments of the 33 years of Hackers For Hope and to honor the memory of Al and Tim.  

The money raised is given to various hospitals and medical institutions which include: Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY, NY McCooey Memorial Research Fund, Weill Cornell Medical College, and the Cannonball Kids Cancer Foundation. The funds go directly towards research and treatment.  

Over the past 33 years, Hackers For Hope has raised close to $17,000,000 to support these and other organizations--and the great thing about Hackers For Hope is that there is very minimal overhead.  Nearly all the money raised is put towards the goal – finding a cure for cancer.
