I'm just starting out on my PD journey. I have been bothered for years by some coordination issues, but I thought nothing of them. I developed tremors about three years ago. Through research, and knowledge gained from Dr. Google, I self-diagnosed myself with essential tremors, because I was afraid of Parkinson's. I was only 44 years old at the time, I thought surely I'm too young. (Yes, I knew of Michael J. Fox already, but I told myself surely it couldn't happen to me.) December 2022 I saw my doctor who declared Parkinsonism. I freaked out, bawled, and then straightened my shoulders determined not to let this beat me. After a DATSCAN in March of 2023 confirmed what had been seen clinically, I knew there was no point burying my head in the sand. This was my new reality. I'm still learning about this disease. Everyday, it seems, a new symptom raises it's ugly head, but I press on. I walk in hopes that a cure may be found-sooner, I hope, than later.
