Six years ago, I joined the board of LearningWorks, a 54-year-old non-profit based in Portland. LearningWorks rethinks learning through innovative programs that help children, young adults, and families, many of whom have lacked the opportunities that many of us have experienced, realize their potential and build thriving communities. I firmly believe that access to an education that works for each and every person in Maine is not only a basic right but also critical for all of us to have a healthy community and future. I have been amazed by the work LearningWorks does. I'm proud to have had the opportunity to serve as both vice chair and chair of the board during my six years; it is truly an organization to which I am committed. This month LearningWorks has begun a significant fundraising campaign called Brighter Days. Please join me in supporting them and help me to reach my fundraising goal!
