Donate in honor of Sara E. K. Cooper and her dedication to the youth of Mercer County

Sara was a beloved advocate for all members of our community and served on the Board of several area nonprofits.  Committed to building great futures and creating opportunities for children, Sara believed that education is the genesis of oppotunity.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County (BGC Mercer), is delighted to announce a new scholarship that will honor Ms. Cooper.  The scholarship will enable teens to attend the Club's College Access Program and recieve a scholarship towards attending Mercer County Community College or a trade school.  Please join us in helping to keep Sara's Spirit alive by contributing to the scholarship fund CLICK HERE. 

Sara felt there is no better way to empower youth than through education, an ideal that aligns perfectly with the Boys & Girls Clubs.  "Sara always wanted to help others, especially the underdog," said her husband Mike Delehanty.  He added, "please help keep Sara's spirit alive by making an annual contribution, no gift is too small."  Mr. Delehanty will be matching up to $10,000 of gifts made to the fund personally.

Meet the Scholarship Recipient:

Santana, the 2023 Sara E. K. Cooper Scholarship recipient, pictured left is a Trenton Central High School graduate.  He ran track, and was an active member of the Club while in High School. He participated in Club programs including, Career Launch. Santana was awarded the inaugural Sara E. K. Cooper Scholarship, enabling him to attend Mercer County Community College for two years at no cost.

We are excited to see what great things he soars into in the future!  Congratulations Santana!

About Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County

Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County (BGC Mercer) provides safe, fun, mission driven programs after school, and during the summer. The mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need the Club the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caing and responsible citizens.

We strive to increase the number of teens who graduate from high school and go on to college  or technical schools. Because of generous supporters BGC Mercer is able to provide over 20 students with scholarships to help them persue their education goals.
