ABOUT ME
I have been living with Stage 4 cancer for 2 years now. I was diagnosed de novo, meaning right off the initial diagnosis they found it in my liver. I was 35. I had a normal mammogram but had a gut feeling something wasn’t right and pursued an ultrasound. After I was diagnosed it never really crossed my mind that it could have spread, I was healthy, young and active. I remember when I read the scan that showed it in my liver. I remember thinking I am going to die and literally having the wind knocked out of me crumbling until I hit the floor. That was the first of so many days ahead that I had to peel myself off a floor from being so violently ill due to chemo, but almost as sick as the chemo made me is the paralyzing anxiety that takes over when I think about my diagnosis and what that means for my future.
This fundraiser is my future. I am on lifelong infusions to keep me alive. I am forever tethered to appointments, infusions, ports and all the side effects that brings but I am also so beyond Greatful that the research has given me those infusions because 20 years ago I would be dead. My cancer is aggressive and random.
We can do better! We can help fund the research to support those who are “ late stage” and prevent this disease from being a death sentence. We need a cure, not a bandaid or drug that kills you to save you.

WHAT IS #LightUpMBC ?
The #LightUpMBC campaign is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds for metastatic breast cancer (MBC) research to benefit METAvivor. Held annually in October, the campaign partners with hundreds of iconic landmarks around the world to illuminate in the symbolic MBC awareness colors of green, teal, and pink. By uniting patients, families, and supporters, #LightUpMBC shines a spotlight on the urgent need for more research and resources to improve outcomes for MBC patients.
#LightUpMBC Live is a dynamic virtual event that serves as the centerpiece of the #LightUpMBC campaign, bringing together the metastatic breast cancer (MBC) community and its supporters for an evening of storytelling, inspiration, and impact. Hosted annually on October 13 on Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day, this live-streamed program features powerful stories from MBC patients and their families, musical performances, and appearances by special guests who amplify the mission of raising awareness and funds for MBC research. #LightUpMBC Live provides a platform for education and advocacy, highlighting the urgency of funding scientific breakthroughs for the most advanced stage of breast cancer.
