Guilherme is from Brazil and has lived in the United States for 4 years. While living in Brazil, he worked as a Relationship Manager at a Bank called Itau Unibanco. Now, in America, he is currently working as a Warehouse and Production Leader at Hilti Distribution Center.

We lend our time and talents at Literacy New Jersey to encourage and help students like Guilherme achieve their dreams. With Literacy, anything is possible. The impossible becomes possible and the challenges become our successes. Here are some highlights this year in Union County: 

We expanded our Summit ESL program this year to serve over 40 students, all of who have received 50+ hours of instruction.

In addition, we built and initiated a strong relationship with the New Providence Library ensuing in a weekly beginner level ESL class. 

Furthermore, we celebrated a record number 38 students who received their GED on June 14th. 

We served over 650 students who spent more than 24,000 hours learning English, earning their GED, becoming citizens, and enhancing their computer skills to get better jobs, help their children in school and become part of their community.

Our 80 awesome, selfless, and dedicated volunteer tutors donated 5,516 hours of instruction in small group settings with students for at least 2 hours each week. By broadening horizons, expanding cultural understanding, and building better communities, our students were able to achieve and unlock their full potential.
