As many of you know, I work as a Literacy Specialist with Literacy NJ, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience helping learners build brighter futures for themselves and their families.
Our students often share how much our classes mean to them. Mary Cruz says attending ESL classes each week has helped her become a more confident mother. Martha is working hard to improve her English so she can be the best grandmother possible to her grandchildren, who mean everything to her. Alvaro shared that our classes provide a safe, supportive space where he can ask questions and practice English with patience and encouragement. These stories are just a glimpse into the life changing impact of adult literacy and ESL education.
Unfortunately, our literacy programs are currently at risk of losing federal funding, which would reduce essential opportunities for adult learners. Many individuals could lose access to support that helps them secure better jobs, communicate with teachers and doctors, finish high school, or work toward citizenship.
If you believe in programs like ours that help adults build stronger futures for themselves, their families, and their communities, there is a way to make a difference. Our virtual fundraiser begins today and runs through Thursday. No donation is too small.
Thank you for supporting this important mission! :)
