My fundraiser for Xerces

Madeline Makarewicz

Please join in and protect invertebrates today!

Butterflies, bees, dragonflies, beetles, spiders, freshwater mussels and other invertebrates sustain life as we know it. Yet many are declining due to habitat loss, pesticide use, climate change, and more. But there are steps that we can all take to help these vital animals and no action is too small. Please taking a stand for invertebrates today by making a donation to my fundraiser. Your support means the world to me, thank you!

Honeybees and their Role

Honeybees alone are responsible for the pollination of over 80% of the world's flowering plants, including fruits, vegetables, and nuts that humans rely on for food. Their effective pollination is crucial to human life. Einstein once said, "If the bee disappears from the surface of the Earth, man would have no more than four years to live", not to mention how expensive produce and other grown goods would become due to the dip in crop yield. As a beekeeper myself, I do my diligence to ensure my colonies health, but one person can only do so much. To ensure that the populations of honeybees and other crucial pollinators remains in good condition, the collaboration of numerous communities is necessary. Groups like the Xerces Society work to improve habitats and do research to help these species which can be supported by monetary donations, but if you are unable, please consider things such as planting pollinator friendly plants and resisting the use of pesticides on your properties.
