Take a stand for invertebrates

Butterflies, bees, dragonflies, beetles, spiders, freshwater mussels and other invertebrates sustain life as we know it. Yet many are declining due to habitat loss, pesticide use, climate change, and more. But there are steps that we can all take to help these vital animals and no action is too small. Join us in taking a stand for invertebrates today!

Starting a peer-to-peer fundraiser for Xerces is one of the best ways to increase awareness and support for invertebrates. With a little creativity, any event can raise essential funds to protect invertebrates from decline. Together, we can make a big difference for the little creatures that run the world.

Please reach out at any time with questions or if you would like to brainstorm ideas for your next fundraiser: engagement@xerces.org.

As a way to say thank you for raising awareness and support for Xerces, we have prizes available to all those who raise $250 and above.

Prize options may include a unique Xerces hat, tote bag, yard sign or book. You may view available items in our gift center.

Peer-to-peer spotlight: memes for bugs raised big funds

Nick McMurray of Nevada City, CA made a huge impact for invertebrates in 2024 with his peer-to-peer fundraiser. Nick, an entomologist, is the founder of Entomemeology, a group he started online in 2020 to share humorous memes and jokes about entomology. Nick says "in our 4th year, Entomemeology became the largest entomology facebook group and largest online entomology community in the world! Over half a million people from 100 different countries have come together to help build this one-of-a-kind community."

The Entomemeology community raised $5,300 with the peer-to-peer fundraiser Nick shared and promoted within the community. Xerces is so grateful to this amazing group of humorous entomology enthusiasts!
