Make Akron better by investing in our youth
I don't know about you, but this Summer my daughters wanted nothing to do with activites involving the "L" word: Learning. School is out, and they're over it. When the Summer switch is flipped, learning becomes as triggering to them as the word "vegetable" to a picky-eating kid. Like sneaking zuchini into their pasta (sshhhh, don't tell!) we've spent all Summer learning through artistic crafting and STEM-based play activities. Visiting the Akron Children's Museum for play and attending our Summer camp, they have learned so much about the world around them and how to navigate its many challenges. By contributing to our campaign you're helping kids like them learn to innovate, solve problems, and think critically.
With your help, our new Canal Corner exhibit will celebrate Akron's historic connection to the Ohio & Erie Canal, inspiring the next generation of Akronites to understand and appreciate our city's unique history. The Canal Corner will feature:
- An interactive water table where children can engineer their own canal locks
- A replica canal boat for imaginative play
- Hands-on activities exploring the science of water, transportation, and engineering
- Educational panels showcasing Akron's transformation from a small settlement to an industrial powerhouse

The Akron Children's Museum (ACM) is not new to us. In fact, my kids have grown up visiting. I'd be happy to buy a ticket for you to join us and learn through play together! I dug into our photos and found a few over the years:
