My dad passed away from lung cancer when I was just 12 years old on March 11, 2006. There are a lot of things I wish I could still ask him, a lot of moments I wish he could be here for—but one thing he said has stayed with me every single day: “It’s all about doing it for the kids.” That line has never left me.

Now, in my role with Camp Braveways, I see children and families walking through battles no one should have to face. And in the middle of all of that, I get to see something incredible—kids laughing, trying new things, making friends, and just being kids again.

Those moments mean everything. And every time I see them, I think about my dad. I think about how much he believed in putting kids first and how proud he would be to see me carrying that forward.

This May, I’m setting a goal that feels big and personal: $5,000 in one month.

Because camp isn’t just a week... it’s a chance for these kids to feel joy, to feel normal, and to create memories that last far beyond their diagnosis.
