Jake Meyer's Story

Jake was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and an expressive language disorder when he was just 2.5 years old and has been working hard in speech therapy, occupational therapy and ABA therapy ever since! When it came time for Steve and I to find a school for him, we searched and visited so many before finding the perfect fit for him at MDE School; he is thriving thanks to this wonderful school! For the first time in the past 6 years since his diagnosis, Steve and I feel as if we can breathe easier knowing he is getting everything he needs for his education in a loving, nurturing and safe environment, where he can have fun while working on his social and life skills that are needed for everyday functioning! Being able to have Jake in a school where he can get what he needs and having all of his therapies in one place has been a game changer for our family! No longer are we having to spend hours in the car driving around to several different clinics just to get him the therapies he deserves. After what has felt like a hard road so far in Jake's journey, we feel like finding MDE has been a bright light. We are so thankful to have found MDE, and are asking you to join us for the MDE Day of Giving. The Day of Giving is a 36-hour period where we raise money to support the programs at MDE School to include: investing in teacher training, classroom technology, vocational academy projects, a new playground and general fund support, which allows the school to meet critical needs that arise throughout the school year.
