Why is it important to you to give back (to the SECU Family House)?
When I was a teenager, my parents’ family friend’s daughter had cancer. She was 27.
She and her husband stayed with us for a month while she had her radiation treatment.
She was amazingly strong, and I think having a family to help take care gave her the extra strength she needed.
What was the first thing you remember cooking?
A casserole that came together quickly and fed me for several days.

As a physician we often forget what families go through during these tough times. Giving back to the SECU Family House is my way of supporting families beyond the hospital
What was the first thing you remember cooking?
During a middle school health class we were asked to make a meal for our families. I made a three course meal. Avocado, thousand island shrimp cocktail, ravioli with tomatoe cream sauce and quesillo (Venezuelan Flan). Making sure to hit all the food groups and not caring about calories.
Name a fun fact people may not know about you.
I am very shy and usually bring up food or cooking to break the ice when I’m meeting people.
