What can we find you doing when you're not whipping up a dish for Men Who Cook?
Rowing toward an annual goal of a million meters on a Concept2 rower in my basement pain cave.
Why is it important to you to give back (to the SECU Family House)?
I believe in this purpose and mission in order to better connect our community to families from other communities who need the services of the SECU Family House.
What was the first thing you remember cooking?
My grandmother's secret homemade chocolate icing from Queens, NYC, for a layer cake.
Name a fun fact people may not know about you.
Nearly burned down the break room in the orthopaedic academic offices at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital toasting a Pop-Tart!
Chef Dr. Jennifer Graves
What can we find you doing when you're not whipping up a dish for Men Who Cook?
Flower arranging, watching British spy shows, and cooking for the family.
Why is it important to you to give back (to the SECU Family House)?
When I was a teenager, my parents’ family friend’s daughter had cancer. She was 27. She and her husband stayed with us for a month while she had her radiation treatment. She was amazingly strong and I think having a family to help take care gave her the extra strength she needed.
What was the first thing you remember cooking?
A casserole that came together quickly and fed me for several days.
Name a fun fact people may not know about you.
I went to culinary school during a year in San Diego when my husband was job training.

Title: Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon
What can we find you doing when you're not whipping up a dish for Men Who Cook?
If it’s not too hot, I’ll be outside playing with my 6 year-old daughter and 2 year-old son. We enjoy hiking and going to parks.
Why is it important to you to give back (to the SECU Family House)?
As a physician, we often forget what families go through during these tough times. Giving back to the SECU Family House is my way of supporting families beyond the hospital.
What was the first thing you remember cooking?
During a middle school health class, we were asked to make a meal for our families. I made a three course meal: avocado, shrimp cocktail with Thousand Island dressing, ravioli with tomatoe cream sauce and quesillo (Venezuelan flan). Making sure to hit all the food groups and not caring about calories.
Name a fun fact people may not know about you.
I am very shy and usually bring up food or cooking to break the ice when I’m meeting people.
